How We Started vs. How It's Going

I've always collected things since I was kid. Like most I hoarded everything I could get my hands on. From Hot Wheels & Matchbox cars to Pokémon and other trading cards to even magnets.
My favorite was always the Corvette. Didn't matter how it came, crazy colors, crazy tires, normal, whatever! I loved them! I still enjoy the Corvette even today. Of course, I had the playmat with the town on it, however, if I recall correctly the cars didn't really match up on it. I loved driving around on the floor or using trucks in the dirt/ mud they were always a blast!
Each time we take a vacation or are somewhere new my wife and I always pick up a magnet. The front of our fridge is covered with them! I wonder how much we've actually spent on magnets? hmm...
Of course, Pokémon was always a big thing! I loved the Squirtle evolution and still do today.
Side note - who remembers pogs? Slammers? Those were the best!
Fast forward a few years and I'm playing Call of Duty with a couple of buddies. One of my buddies Johnny was watching a live auction app by the name of Whatnot. I downloaded the app, and I was hooked after the first show. It started off as just collecting a few things I liked to searching Target, local card shops and online for new Pokémon cards and boxes. Moving to bigger and better items like slabs and such. Next thing I know I'm buying holders and shelves to display my collection. It's kind of like a drug. I kept watching Pokémon but then added Funko Pops to my collection and man that is a black hole! Funko Pops are amazing because they literally have something for everyone out there. No matter what you enjoy, there is a Funko Pop that you can relate to. I found myself adding more and more shelves to my collection. It expanded super-fast!
I kept most everything I purchased sealed. Of course, that increases the overall value of the product and keeps it intact for the long haul. Now I have boxes of sealed product all over my basement. Crazy how much you can accumulate in a short period of time.
Then about a year ago from the time this is written I joined a group called Apex. Ran by a guy named Ryan Stewman. My personal reasoning for joining this group was to assist me in becoming a better human, a better worker, better person to be around, and overall better person. There are quite a few lessons to learn, and achievements to obtain. One of which is what is called "building your machine." The idea behind it is to essentially build something that you love, and you can build your entire life.
--Insert Collect-A-Box here.
Yes! Collect-A-Box was born. My first LLC I created. I got the EIN the state stuff, etc. I even talked to a lawyer to make sure I was doing things correctly. I have a few people in my life that have businesses, but you can never be too careful. Good thing I asked the lawyer. Come to find out Collect-A-Box is way too close to Collecta Con and I could've been sued for it eventually down the line.
It drove me nuts! It sucked! Here I am trying to build my machine and it takes one (logical) comment from a lawyer for it to come to a halt. For the moment.
Long story short, which I will reveal on a different platform, my bearded dragon sparked the name for Zero Collectibles.
Speed up to now, we have been in business for a few months. We stream every so often on the Whatnot app and have delivered collectibles all across the nation.
I am very thankful for where Zero Collectibles has taken me, and where it will go in the future!
Now go buy stuff! lol
Make sure to follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok if you haven't already!
Thank you, collectors!
