As I navigate this new area of selling collectibles I am starting to release more and more of my personal collection. I've been collecting Pokémon for a few years now and my collection isn't the best and it isn't the worst. Starting with a sample of the Charizard collection we have a couple older ones from the 90's and mid 2000's then of course a few modern options up now. Be sure to check them out!
I started putting up a few other slabs and come to find out there are a few of those that are under population 100 and even a few that are single digits and population 1's! I still wish there was a more user-friendly way to look up slabs and their prices. I get that most slabs are up for debate, and they are worth whatever someone is willing to pay. So, designing something like that is pretty difficult I would assume. If anyone has some sites that I can use that you enjoy looking up pricing I would love to hear it! Could you imagine a more regulated way of looking up slab pricing?
Slabs definitely take the guessing work out of wondering the condition of cards, but with more and more slab companies popping up each year who do you really trust? CGC has always been a favorite of mine, and they seem to have the strictish policy on grading at least compared to PSA. PSA still grades by hand; however, they do have at least 2 graders grading each submission. Is that what makes some PSA grades not hold up as much as CGC does? PSA has been the GOAT in grading for many years, but I wonder if they will switch to AI or computer grade grading. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
For me it's also about the experience and the looks of the slabs. PSA seems to have that old school look and feel to their slabs whereas CGC seems to just have a better look and feel. CGC feels stronger and their subgrade option is amazing! Beckett is also among the top grading platforms out there. That feeling when you get the black label on a Beckett slab truly can't be beat! It's what separates the perfect 10's from the pristine 10's! CGC actually says if the slab is a perfect 10 or a pristine 10 (Perfect being the better of the 2, receiving 10's on all categories.) PSA doesn't do the perfect/ pristine grading or even subgrades. I wonder if when they bring on the computer/ AI grading that would change?
There are of course many other options for grading cards. I just wanted to speak on the top 3. At the end of the day if you are collecting because you enjoy it then the grading service shouldn't matter. Go with what you enjoy and what you like!
That Dark Charizard Team Rocket tho... such a cool art! Ken Sugimori did such a great job on that art! The way Charizard is looking behind him like he's watching his back is super cool! The Charizard EX from the Red & Blue collection, the Black Star Promos shows a battle going on. Is Charizard protecting Flareon from Magmar or are they all fighting each other? I'll always be a sucker for Tag Teams and Charizrd and Braixen definitely deliver as one of the great tag team cards another Black Star Promos that doesn't disappoint!
All those above are currently up for sale under the TCG cards dropdown under the Shop tab. Check them out today!
